Guidelines for Allergy Injections

Allergy shots are given during the following office hours:

You do not need an appointment: just sign in with the receptionist
and a nurse will call you shortly.

After receiving your injection, you must remain in the office for 20
- 30 minutes and be checked by a nurse to determine whether an
adverse reaction has occurred. Let us know if any delayed reaction
occurred after leaving, so we can adjust your dose before the next
injection.

If you have asthma, you may be required to use a peak flow meter
before and after your shot. You may also be required to wait the full
30 minutes. Please bring your own peak flow meter.

Shots cannot be given with any of the following:
A. Severe allergies
B. Asthma flare up
C. Fever and/or upper respiratory infection
D. Use of Beta-Blockers

It must be at least five (5) full days between shots. Anything over
ten (10) days is considered late. Missed injections will require
adjustment of the next injection dosage.

Women: Please inform us if you are pregnant. Pregnant patients may receive allergy shots, although the dose will not be increased beyond the level at which time pregnancy was detected.
